Could You Be Pregnant? We’re Here for You

Wondering if you might be pregnant? The most recognized early sign of pregnancy is a missed menstrual period, but there are several other symptoms that can appear before a missed period. Everyone’s body is different — some people experience many signs, others only a few, and some none at all. The only reliable way to know is by taking a pregnancy test. 1

Common Early Signs of Pregnancy

Below are some early symptoms that may appear in the first few weeks after conception:

Missed Period

A missed period is frequently the first clue that pregnancy may have occurred — especially if your cycles are regular. However, a missed period can also result from stress, illness, or hormonal changes. 2

Nausea or “Morning Sickness”

Nausea with or without vomiting can begin as early as a few weeks after conception and may occur at any time of day. Hormonal shifts are thought to play a role, although the exact cause isn’t fully understood. 1

Breast Tenderness or Swelling

Hormone changes in early pregnancy often make breasts feel sensitive, sore, swollen, or heavier. This symptom can begin shortly after implantation.1

Other Early Symptoms to Watch For

Many pregnancy signs overlap with pre-menstrual symptoms, so they don’t confirm pregnancy on their own — but they can be part of what your body is experiencing:

  • Light Spotting or Implantation Bleeding – Some people notice very light bleeding or spotting when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine lining. This bleeding is usually much lighter than a period.1
  • Cramping – Mild menstrual-like cramps can occur early in pregnancy. 1
  • Fatigue – Feeling unusually tired is one of the earliest pregnancy symptoms, likely related to hormonal changes and increased progesterone. 1
  • Frequent Urination – You might notice an increased need to urinate early on as blood volume increases and your kidneys work harder.1
  • Headaches & Dizziness – Hormone changes and increased blood volume can trigger headaches or light-headed feelings. 2
  • Mood Swings – Hormonal shifts can affect your mood, causing emotional ups and downs. 1
  • Food Cravings or Aversions / Sensitivity to Smells – Hormones may change your appetite or make familiar smells suddenly off-putting. 3
  • Constipation & Bloating – Increased progesterone can slow digestion, leading to bloating or less frequent bowel movements. 1
  • Heartburn or Indigestion – Digestive changes caused by hormones can sometimes cause heartburn early in pregnancy. 4

What’s Most Important

The only way to confirm pregnancy is with a pregnancy test or a medical evaluation. If you think you might be pregnant — or if your symptoms concern you — schedule a test and talk with a healthcare provider. We can support you through every step: testing, exploring your options, and connecting you with care. 1
